  • Home Geographic, an initiative of Good Growth Ventures, is an innovative social enterprise dedicated to connecting traditional artisans in emerging markets to modern homes and spaces. We catalyze greater market reach for traditional artisans through market-driven approaches, and levering appropriate technologies.

  • Home Geographic’s Market Access Program was founded in 2018 to meet the need of artisans to identify viable market opportunities for their products and grow their businesses.

    By providing technical assistance and training to artisans in developing countries to build viable businesses, the Market Access Program supports achieving the following United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals:

    Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls (SDG 5)

    Promote decent work and economic growth (SDG 8)

    Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns (SDG 12)

    Partnership is the bedrock of our program’s approach. To date, we have partnered with local artisan-development organizations, USAID, the US Department of State, local governments and stakeholders, and are always expanding our network of program partners.

  • Based on our expertise developing market linkages for artisans via e-commerce and business-to-business sales channels in 11 countries to date, we provide technical assistance and training for artisans in the following areas:

    Market Analysis and Segmentation. Using a data-driven approach, we conduct a market-needs analysis and segmentation of the artisan’s product category. Based on these findings, we benchmark the artisans’ current business model against its relevant market to identify opportunities for growth.

    Product Market-Alignment. Applying a design-thinking approach to product development, we work with artisan organizations to develop user-centered products for their target market.

    Marketing, Branding and Sales. Leveraging our decades of experience in business development, we apply our findings from the Market Analysis to inform development of a business marketing, branding and product marketing strategy. We then work with artisans on business development training, including identifying target customers, pricing modeling, and developing a sales operations model.

    Export-Promotion. Based on the outcomes of the Market Analysis, artisans may determine that their target market opportunity is in exporting to international markets. We draw from our pool of international export management expertise to identify target markets for export, and provide technical assistance to artisans to prepare for market-readiness for export promotion.

    Operations and Logistics Planning. After conducting a value-chain analysis, we work with artisans to create an end-to-end product fulfillment plan, including quality-control protocols, product inventory management, packaging, shipping, and returns processing.
