Thriving Mothers and Babies Project in Nigeria
Project Summary:
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Partners: Maternal Adolescent Reproductive Care Initiative (MARCH), SCT-Development Solution
Advisory Board: The G4 Alliance
The lack of antenatal care is woefully failing women and babies in Nigeria
Nigeria ranks fourth-highest in maternal deaths globally. One-third of pregnant women in Nigeria do not receive any antenatal care during pregnancy, with 82.5% of women living in rural areas. A quarter of all death of reproductive-aged women in Nigeria resulting from childbirth.
We aim to solve this problem.
We believe saving the lives of women and babies in Nigeria lies in empowering nurses and midwives with improved skills, increasing access to ultrasound technology, and expanding affordable access to neonatal healthcare for rural households.
The first step is to ground truth why women aren’t getting adequate antenatal care.
We are ramping up to conduct a landscape analysis, including field research, a stakeholder workshop, and user interviews on Nigeria's current state of antenatal care. Following our landscape analysis, we will conduct a full project design to identify sustainable, viable, feasible, and desirable solutions to providing adequate antenatal care.
We’re looking for the right partners for this mission.
We’re specifically looking for partners to co-finance our landscape analysis. If this project is for you, please get in touch!
